Fernweh

“Fernweh” is the german word for the opposite of homesickness, sometimes translated as wanderlust or itchy feet… but these words just don’t fit the german one… anyway!

Here are the news and the reason why I’m writing that stuff about “Fernweh”:
I’m going back to the Niels Bohr Institute beginning of march this year. It more or less only depends on the fact whether I’ll have an apartment or not. And I’m optimistic…

So I’m looking forward to have all of you visiting me in Copenhagen ;-)

Everything has an end… only sausage has two!

Awesome german idiom, isn’t it?!
Anyway… if you like it or not, a bit truth is in it!
Today is my last day of my CERN summer school stay… and what a coincidence, today the MySQL server broke down! Which means not much work for me…
Writing about sausage… I have to add, that we had a real nice German BBQ at the Prevessin BBQ site yesterday evening. It was also probably the last official kitchen parade of this year’s summer school.
Writing about summer school… I have to add another thing. Yesterday we finally got the official summer school t-shirts… and I have to say, that I’m a BIT proud!

p.s.
but every end is the beginning of something new…deep isn’t it?!
see you all again!

War revealed

Here we go… for those of you interested in War 1.0!

sourcecode
deckfile for 52 card game
deckfile for 54 card game

This version is using ROOT to plot the stats.
You have to have a proper ROOT setup to compile/run it.

Here are some example results.
setup: war -G 100000 -P 3 -C 54cards.crd -O war.root -R 1 -S 5
ROOT file
NTricks plot
Ndraws plot
Nwinner plot

btw
if enyone can solve the problem why player two always wins more games than player one… he/she’ll get a drink

CERN user

Woohoo! From today on I’m a real CERN user and not just a short term user… since my original CERN contract ended last Friday, I had to get a new contract (which was horribly difficult btw)… So my group decided to get me the “full membership”. Now I’m a valid member until I finish my degree in Copenhagen, which will hopefully work out… it looks not to bad!
