Today I had another ‘Build Your Own Particle Detector’ event, for the first time at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich. With about 50 participants to the contest and tons of chats within the seven-hour event, not a bad day ;)
All designs can be found on the BYOPD event page.

Once again …
… we failed in getting a LEGO model of LHC experiments through the LEGO Ideas review.
After failing with my mini ATLAS model in 2014, yesterday LEGO finally rejected Nathan Readioff’s LHC micro models as well. Looks like we have to come up with yet another idea/design to finally reach our goal ;)
Gettin’ ready for the Open Day
We’re slowly getting ready for the Open Day in Garching, taking place on Saturday, 22 October 2016.
Visit us between 11 am and 6 pm or join our free screening of ‘Particle Fever‘ at 6 pm.
We’ll have a great programme, including a BYOPD event, presentations of live events and data from CERN, a cosmic-ray detector, the large ATLAS LEGO model and more …

ICHEP2016
I’m on my way to ICHEP2016 in Chicago.
Looking forward to a great conference in a great city.
I have good memories of both:
ICHEP2012 in Melbourne and Chicago, as a memorable start of a road-trip to New York.
I’ll have both physics (long-lived particles) and outreach (BYOPD) contributions for this year’s conference … let’s see how it goes :)
