While being at CERN last week, I stumbled into what is apparently known as a mannequin challenge. Learned something and had some fun, as you can see ay 0:13 and 0:23 :)

Gettin’ ready for the Open Day
We’re slowly getting ready for the Open Day in Garching, taking place on Saturday, 22 October 2016.
Visit us between 11 am and 6 pm or join our free screening of ‘Particle Fever‘ at 6 pm.
We’ll have a great programme, including a BYOPD event, presentations of live events and data from CERN, a cosmic-ray detector, the large ATLAS LEGO model and more …
Dark Matter Searches
Returning from my short trip to Sydney and back in my office I got surprised by a package containing the printed proceedings of the IX International Conference on Interconnections between Particle Physics and Cosmology (PPC2015) I went to in July last year.
Sydney Science Festival
Tickets booked, hotel booked, pieces sent, adds out, registration open … now I just have to wait a few more weeks and off I go to the Sydney Science Festival.
Nuit de la science

Last weekend I had a quick trip to Geneva. Aside the usual meetings at Cern, I had the pleasure to host another BYOPD event. This time as part of the ‘Nuit de la science‘ at the ‘Musée d’histoire des sciences‘ on invitation of the Atlas group at the University of Geneva.
With in total 17 hours plus preparation and clean-up time, it was quite a bit of work, but it was certainly a lot of fun again. We had over 80 contestants, ranging age three to 74, entering the competition and quite a few more people just chatting with us about particle physics, Cern, Atlas and whatnot.
We also had cloud chamber as well as the ATLASrift as part of the particle physics contribution.
