Weltmaschine

Today the Weltmaschine exhibition starts in Berlin!
Its supposed to be a very nice exhibition on the LHC and the connected experiments such as ATLAS. There’s physicists from all over Germany coming to the Bundestag Subway Station in Berlin to explain the physics and more to the visitors.

ATLAS Control Room

Woohoo … since today I have access rights to the ATLAS Control Room!
Actually nothing too special … but anyway!
Tomorrow I’ll have my first part of the training for the Pixel shifts that I am supposed to take in the near future.
Excitement!!!<

LHC Inauguration

Just got my invitation for the Official LHC Inauguration on October 21st this year …
The going to be quite a large number of people around on this day.
And apparently Mr. Molecular Cuisine, Ettore Bocchia, will be responsible for the food that evening while Frans Lanting and his music and media show ORIGINS (adapted from the LIFE show) will entertain the crowd … which by quite a fraction will consist of VIPs from all around the world! … Very much looking forward to it!

First impressions from CERN

Well the first two weeks (with a little break though) are already over …
I am slowly settling in Geneva and at CERN … quite a few new things that came up during these weeks … and quite some work, man! But its cool … ;)
Here’s two pictures of the Globe in yesterday’s fine Geneva morning fog and of my office (I sit on the left side) at CERN. Btw the weather got really nice later the day … it often starts shitty like this …

Geneva Pet

Just one week after my arrival in Geneva I already got myself a nice little pet.
I found I cute little annoying tick at the back of my left knee … dammit!
Here’s the little bastard that now graces our whiteboard in 32 2-A18 …
