Toki Tori

Toki Tori is a tricky and fun little 2D puzzle-platformer that’s been around since the Game Boy Color and has recently found its way back onto my gaming list.

In the game, you have to guide a young chick, Toki Tori, to save its unhatched younger siblings. To do this, you can use six different abilities, sometimes limited in the number of times they can be used in each level, to master five different worlds, each with its own features, looks and obstacles.

Some of the puzzles really did cost me a few nerves, but it was quite a throwback and a lot of fun. Which now brings me (back) to Toki Tori 2+ …

What the Golf?

What the Golf? is simply hilarious. Not even sure how to categorise the game, but it surely is fun to play. There’s also a two-player mode, in case you want to enjoy the game in a face-off.

It’s anything but regular (mini)golf, which the name and optics might suggest, and certainly a recommendation for a few entertaining minutes in between. Enjoy …

Unbound: Worlds Apart

Unbound: Worlds Apart is a fantastic, extremely well made and extremely challenging (for me at least) 2D puzzle platformer in which you guide a mage called Soli through a maze of puzzles using different types of portals and abilities.
The graphics are great, the soundtrack is great, but it did cost me some nerves as some of the challenges were annoyingly hard and here and there it needed the support of the next generation.

All in all, a wonderful game with great gameplay that’s a lot of fun to play (despite the difficulties I had). Definitely a recommendation, especially if you like games like Ori.

Papetura

Papetura is a beautifully made point-and-click adventure game where you follow/guide two little creatures along their journey to save their papery world from pyromanic monsters.
The game is set in some really nice done scenes – who creation process is quite unique (see video on YouTube) and you will have to solve a number of puzzles to lead the protagonists to victory.

A somewhat short, but certainly enjoyable little adventure game!

Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective

Labyrinth City: Pierre the Maze Detective is a fun little puzzle / hide-and-seek game for in between and great for younger kids too. Fun little story, lots of nice drawings and animations, side stories and hidden treasures in this adventure. Kind of a gamified ‘Where’s Wally’/’Wimmelbuch’ experience that’s certainly fun.
