Just returned from a week in Bucharest at the ‘ATLAS Exotics and SUSY Joint Workshop’, which took place at the Ministry of Culture and had its conference dinner at the slightly oversized Palace of Parliament, depicted above. The latter holds some interesting records, e.g. as the world’s largest civilian building with an administrative function, the world’s most expensive administrative building and the world’s heaviest building!?
Anyways … the workshop was nice, the dinner was nice, my talk was nice ;) and Buchrest certainly interesting … which reminds me of an equally interesting article on Bucharest I read this week.

MarchForScience
As many (though certainly not enough) others, we went to the March for Science in Munich today (have a look, you might find someone you know on this BR.de – pa/dpa picture).
Münster2017
Just returned from this year’s annual Spring Meeting of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG) [German Physics Society] on particle physics in Münster.
I had the pleasure to chair a session on ‘searches for new particles’, listened to a few very nice talks, joined a couple of interesting discussions and got the chance to see a bit of a nice city.
Cheeez
We had Christmas dinner at work yesterday … more than two kilograms of cheese (Appenzeller, Gruyère, Emmental and an old Tyrol cheese) in seven different kinds of cheese fondue (Appenzeller, Gruyère, Tyrol, tomato mixed, spring onion mixed, bacon mixed, chives mixed; and yes, I know it’s eight caquelons) for about 40 group members. Certainly an experience … from shopping, over preparation, to the dinner itself :)
Freeze
While being at CERN last week, I stumbled into what is apparently known as a mannequin challenge. Learned something and had some fun, as you can see ay 0:13 and 0:23 :)
