LLP and SUSY workshops

Spring time is (apparently) workshop time.

Last week I spent three days at the 3rd LHC Long-lived Particle workshop at CERN where the status and plans for searches for long-lived particles (LLPs) at LHC and elsewhere have been presented and discussed. Hopefully soon we’ll be able to put out a white paper, summarising current LLP search coverage, ways to improve it and a unified ‘language’ (set of simplified models) for sensitivity studies and reinterpretations.

This week I went to Stockholm for the 2018 ATLAS Supersymmetry Workshop to meet with a large fraction of the ATLAS SUSY community to (again) discuss the status quo as well as plans and ideas for the future (in terms of supersymmetry searches within ATLAS, also including a few LLP searches). Great location (institute and city) and nice workshop …

It was a sign …

The street sign we picked up in Sweden last year was just the first step. This year we’re going for the real thing … the summer holidays are fixed and we’re going to South America, Peru and Bolivia to be precise. From the Pacific, over the Andes, into the jungle of the Amazon, to lake Titicaca and the highest capital in the world.
Hmm … I am so much looking forward!

Holidays

Just a short sum up of the holidays that passed by in the last couple of weeks …

Having left Geneva on Dec 19th I dropped Johanna and Tom somewhere north of Frankfurt and after a nice evening, a good night’s sleep I continued towards Berlin …

During the days before Christmas I (unfortunately) entered the Christmas shopping world, which immediately took away the last bit of joyful anticipation towards the holidays!

Anyway after these trouble I tried to enjoy my first appointment free Chistmas eve and almost failed since I had to notice (for the first time) that shops close at times like 13h or 15h on that day … which is bad in case you need something urgently at about 18h …
Thanks to the Indian’s (who do not celebrate at this day) we managed to fill up my new dehydrating machine :) with fresh fruits and vegies in the end.

The rest of the holidays was quite relaxing and nearly as expected …

After this trouble we (being seven and a half friend and me) drove out to the Swedish outback to spend a couple of days, including New Year’s Eve, in a hut (thanks to Esben, greetz).
Besides some troubles with fuses, missing heating, dead animals and overflowing shit-tanks everything went well and we had a great time …

And now I am back for work in Zeuthen (the small village close to Berlin) …

Heja Sverige!

Todays the day … this year’s roadtrip to Sweden started!

It’s been great … its a beautiful country!

I’m currently working on the route in the ‘Cities & Tours’ section of my webpage and a selection of pictures will be online as well soon(ish).
