Another time me and the machine, ATLAS! Its alwas a moving moment to see this masterpiece of physics engineering, especially for me doing all of the actual work in front of a computer and never really getting in touch with the hardware. You feel this certain satisfaction, when walking through the little radiation protection tunnel with a small blue door at the end to then enter the huge canvern, housing the now almost as huge ATLAS detector. Simply one of the coolest things ever…
LHCb & Dvorak & Betting Game
Today I had a tour of the LHCb detector and the associated electronics and computing parts (thanks to Gareth). Not quite as big as ATLAS but still very impressive!
I’ll put some more pictures in the gallery…
In the evening I followed the invitation of the CERN Concerts Club and listened to some Dvorak, Gershwin and Mersson music in the CERN main auditorium.
And last but not least … after some complains, the betting game on my webpage has finally got a new and more reasonable mode for evaluating rugby games ;-)
Early Flight
Another time at CERN and always a pleasure! I had to take the early flight leaving at 6h20. Which was kind of a pain in the a**, but I got a bit rewarded by the view on the sunrise though.
Over the weekend I am staying at Troels’ place …
Hmmmmm
It’s an early Christmas present (thanks to Margit and Detlef) and it’s cooool and our’s! Hmmmmm
New Personal Bowling Record

Even though or probably just because the weekend was kind of exhausting and didn’t offer a lot of sleep I managed to bowl a new all-time personal record.
In an amazing 9-strike game only interrupted by two very stupid open frames I made incredible 241 (in words: two hundred fourty one) points. Not being totally able to realise I increased my previous record of 222 points by almost nine percent!
With another friend increasing her record (greetz to Janine) and a personal daily average of 197 (191, 178, 241, 178) this was kind of a good evening for us :-)
