Today CERN officially announced March 30th 2010 as the date for first 7 TeV proton-proton collisions in the LHC! Bit sad though that I am sitting here writing my thesis … but time will come!

Time for another world record!
The machine is fully awake now and this night for the first time ever accelerated two circulating beams to 3.5 TeV each. CERN immediatly released a press release this noon to share this achievement … it’s certainly getting exciting now …
Steadily going back to business … today the LHC had the beams up to 1.18 TeV each, apparently with some collisions!
… since yesterday! The LHC has first circulating beams in both directions again …
was this weekend’s movie of choice!
And it turned out to be quite a good choice. Though it had it’s downs especially in the last five minutes, it was a nice and entertaining movie.
Good old George Clooney and Vera Farmiga did their part to make it a movie certainly worth seeing!
