Movie Night 3

What a night … yesterday we had another game day in our little foosball league.
With only two matches scheduled (even though one was a very important one, for the league and me … which was a draw btw.) we had lot of time left for movies afterwards … and we pretty much used all of it ;)
We started out with ‘Thank you for smoking’, went on with ‘Kops’ and finished the night (and us) with ‘Heat’.
All of them where great, although only the first one was new for me. It’s about a guy representing the tobacco industry and all the mess that comes around with being in such a position … really nice movie, hereby recommanded! The other two are classics already. A swedish commedy about some police station in the swedish outback that is to be closed
and its appendant officers … fun!
And of course the one and only Heat … the street fight is legendary … hmm … and DeNiro and Pacino did the rest.

SplitBill

Since I just finished writing a little tool that could be useful for others, Iwill today use my blog for advertising it … after all it’s my blog ;)

SplitBill helps you disentangle the huddle you are in after having had holidays or a party with your friends and/or beloved where everyone payed part of the thing.
Simply enter your ‘shopping list’, meaning the expenses of everyone, and the calculations like ‘who gets what from whom’ and others will be done for you …

It’s the first version, so feedback of any kind is welcome :)

It was a sign …

The street sign we picked up in Sweden last year was just the first step. This year we’re going for the real thing … the summer holidays are fixed and we’re going to South America, Peru and Bolivia to be precise. From the Pacific, over the Andes, into the jungle of the Amazon, to lake Titicaca and the highest capital in the world.
Hmm … I am so much looking forward!

One more on the publications list

Finally the ATLAS book is out … with amazing 2604 authors on the list and about 1900 pages its quite a monstrous publication, but hey its also the larges experiment ever build by mankind ;)
Anyway … I myself took part in the sections on triggering (selecting) events containing top quarks.

Holidays

Just a short sum up of the holidays that passed by in the last couple of weeks …

Having left Geneva on Dec 19th I dropped Johanna and Tom somewhere north of Frankfurt and after a nice evening, a good night’s sleep I continued towards Berlin …

During the days before Christmas I (unfortunately) entered the Christmas shopping world, which immediately took away the last bit of joyful anticipation towards the holidays!

Anyway after these trouble I tried to enjoy my first appointment free Chistmas eve and almost failed since I had to notice (for the first time) that shops close at times like 13h or 15h on that day … which is bad in case you need something urgently at about 18h …
Thanks to the Indian’s (who do not celebrate at this day) we managed to fill up my new dehydrating machine :) with fresh fruits and vegies in the end.

The rest of the holidays was quite relaxing and nearly as expected …

After this trouble we (being seven and a half friend and me) drove out to the Swedish outback to spend a couple of days, including New Year’s Eve, in a hut (thanks to Esben, greetz).
Besides some troubles with fuses, missing heating, dead animals and overflowing shit-tanks everything went well and we had a great time …

And now I am back for work in Zeuthen (the small village close to Berlin) …
