Thimbleweed Park

Thimbleweed Park is a point-and-click adventure like from the good old times :)
Like in Maniac Mansion or Day of the Tentacle one plays several nicely crafted characters in different times, yet all in a small town called Thimbleweed Park.
As in the classics, one gets a beautifully written story; lots of easter eggs and jokes; fun, crazy and some difficult puzzles to solve; and great (old school) graphics and sound / voice acting.
It’s been a real treat and I had to try both game modes (hard and casual) right one after the other » highly recommended !!!

There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension

There Is No Game: Wrong Dimension is, using its own words, not a great point-and-click adventure game. It’s certainly not fantastic and not a great homage to old adventure classics, does not have a fun story and nice riddles to solve and was not at all extremely entertaining to play. And you should probably not make sure to give it a go.

p.s. The not-game is based on a game-jam entry called ‘There Is No Game’, which you can play for free here.

Wavetale

Wavetale is a 3D action adventure where you guide young Sigrid on her quest to save her fellow islanders from mysterious monsters and uncover secrets about her own family.

It’s a very laid-back ‘action’ adventure with nice visuals (though with a few hiccups here and there), a great soundscape, and some fun (but not too hard) puzzles, garnished with four little racing challenges. I liked it and maybe you will too ;)

Toki Tori 2+

Toki Tori 2+ is a beautiful and entertaining 2D puzzle platformer. Like its predecessor, Toki Tori, it’s full of challenging little (and not so little) puzzles, but with beautifully crafted new graphics, new gameplay and new abilities.

This time around, Toki Tori has to find and collect wings and different flavours of frogs in a variety of levels filled with different monsters and animals. There are also lots of achievements to collect, although I haven’t come close to collecting them all yet.

All in all, it’s a definite recommendation if you like puzzle platformers.

Toki Tori

Toki Tori is a tricky and fun little 2D puzzle-platformer that’s been around since the Game Boy Color and has recently found its way back onto my gaming list.

In the game, you have to guide a young chick, Toki Tori, to save its unhatched younger siblings. To do this, you can use six different abilities, sometimes limited in the number of times they can be used in each level, to master five different worlds, each with its own features, looks and obstacles.

Some of the puzzles really did cost me a few nerves, but it was quite a throwback and a lot of fun. Which now brings me (back) to Toki Tori 2+ …
