Little Nightmares II

Little Nightmares II is – just like its predecessor, to which it is a prequel – an absolutely beautiful and fantastic, scary, puzzle-platform horror adventure game. This time one guides a little boy, later joined by the girl know from part one, through dark yet beautifully crafted levels.

I’m definitely not a big fan of horror games and had my moments with both parts, but once again, it’s been an absolute delight playing this game and I do look forward to playing part three, apparently coming out in 2025.

Röki

Röki is a very nice 3D adventure video game where you guide Tove, a young girl, through a mission to rescue her younger brother Lars from Röki, a monster from the pages of a fairy tale.

In the course of her journey Tove meets many fairy tale creatures and has to solve many (not too hard) puzzles. To solve some of these puzzles, you have to switch between controlling different abilities (masks) and even characters (Tove and her father).

Röki’s plot is beautiful, rich and a little tragic, the cel-shaded graphics look nice and there are lots of little details and some hard-to-find achievements. I certainly enjoyed playing Röki.

Wavetale

Wavetale is a 3D action adventure where you guide young Sigrid on her quest to save her fellow islanders from mysterious monsters and uncover secrets about her own family.

It’s a very laid-back ‘action’ adventure with nice visuals (though with a few hiccups here and there), a great soundscape, and some fun (but not too hard) puzzles, garnished with four little racing challenges. I liked it and maybe you will too ;)

Monument Valley 1 & 2

Monument Valley and Monument Valley 2 are indie puzzle games with an isometric view in which you have to guide your main characters through mazes of optical illusions and impossible objects, manipulating the world around them in order to reach different platforms.

The puzzles are not particularly challenging, but very entertaining and soothing to play. It was great fun to solve the puzzles and enjoy the magical illusions. So if you are looking for a little lightweight distraction, these games are for you …
