Back again

Finally I am back in Copenhagen and online…

Horrible Internet connection/availability in Strasbourg… anyway!
The school was nice… even though it can’t reach the CERN one… also due to the lack of PPJB

btw I met some people from CERN during the school, like Susanne (GER), Laura (GER) and of course Katrin (DK)…

I managed to get all the stats for the World Cup Gamble done and now I am just waiting for the winners to get their prizes… ;-) Congrats to Shaun, Heike, Katrin and hansaspieler!

Now I am fighting myself through a big pile of emails in my accounts from the last two weeks…
damit… being offline really stinks… how can people manage?
Somehow I get the fealing I am an Internet addict?! nevermind… could be worse!

Now I need some sleep…

Provence and the French-German Relations

After a very nice and long trip from CERN to Aix (which costs 35EUR btw) I had an interesting guided tour through Aix, met some tourists from Copenhagen and Sydney that gave me their email and postal addresses for my future visits… then I enjoyed the beautiful countryside of the Provence and the Verdon canyon.
The next day started a bit worse… I found my car with a hole in the front window… I’m lovin’ it! Anyway… after some calls and hearing the police say: “We’re busy, you hqve to come tomorrow!” We (greetz to Julie and Melissa) went on to see the mediterian sea (following the original plan) and the Cardargue national park… also very nice countryside.
Today I “enjoyed” a french law lecture… whereas I have to admit that I was reading most of the time (thanks to Andy for the book)… but it was fun…
In the moment I’m suffering the pain of writing this up standing in front of a pc with a f***ing french keyboard…
Anyway I “love” france…
Since I don’t have a proper connection the pictures will follow later…

The ATLAS pit and the BigBang

Last friday i finally went down to see the ATLAS pit, home of the biggest experiment ever! 92m under ground… unfortunaltely it’s so big, that it almost fills out the whole cavern, making it hard to get a good view. Anyway, it’s just awesome huge!
Having seen the detector (or at least the parts, that are already down there) I went on to see the BigBang… On Saturday there was the Fete du Lac in Annecy… which was a bit odd, because they locked the whole city, but offered the most impressive fireworks I’ve ever seen. They started out with some choir singing and ended up with 90m of fireworks… bambambigbang! Yeah!
I guess I’ll be disappointed by the Fetes de Geneve firework and/or the New Years Day fireworks in the next years…?!

Shy mountain and olympic city

This weekend we made a trip to Chamonix (FR) to visit the beautiful valley and the Big Old Mont Blanc. Unfortunately this big old guy is a little shy, so we’re not hundred per cent sure whether we saw him or not… cause he was hiding in a big fat cloud. Bast…! Anyway!
We probably had the highest funny french lunch break including a Skat session ever done!? Sitting at the Aiguille du Midi at 3842m… yeah, rock on! Spending half the day waiting for the big guy to show up an playing cards at this altitude we all suffered quite a bit…
On sunday I went to the olympic city of Lausanne, at the north shore of the lake, enjoying some more oxygen filled air down at the “beach”… which was actually no beach, but anyway!
