Inspired and motivated by a couple of PWAs I have recently written, I have just revived and rewritten a little puzzle game, I have once written in Delphi (Pascal) for the first time.
It took some time, but now I finally managed to finish the next twist in Particle Twister.
My game idea that I designed and realised together with Katarina Anthony during my ‘more active’ time at the ATLAS Experiment at CERN finally got the first set of long-promised playing cards for additional fun and challenges in addition to the classic spinning wheel – all that in my brand new Progressive Web App (PWA). You can use it online at and install it locally from https://particle-twister.mehlhase.info/.
Let me know if you have more ideas for cards, playing modes or features. I still have a few more ideas, so stay tuned for updates …
Ever had an issue with people not sticking to their allocated presentation time at one of your events? I certainly do …
After another round of testing at our MQV Annual Meeting in Eichstätt in October, I put together a new version of my little timekeeping tool available at timekeeper.mehlhase.info.
I usually have it running on a Raspberry Pi using Chromium in kiosk mode and use chroma keying on an ATEM Mini Pro to overlay the presentation source with the timer display, all controlled by a tiny five-keys ‘keyboard’. But it’s a Progressive Web App, so you can install it locally on your PC, tablet or phone and hook that up your video mixer via HDMI.
About twenty years ago, in July 2004, I started a little – now long gone – blogspot.com weblog, mainly to document and share my ERASMUS experience in Copenhagen. You are now looking at what it has become over the years…
Earlier this year I took on the task of reviving my son’s high school website. Now we have finally reached the point where the school has decided to officially move from the old and outdated site to this new one.
After another less successful attempt by someone else to relaunch the site, we decided to go for a slimmer and simpler approach this time to minimise maintenance. Using WordPress, I derived a minimally modified but dedicated child theme based on Twenty Twenty and wrote a bit of PHP, Javascript and HTML/CSS code to adapt the site to the needs and wishes of the school staff.
Some content still needs to be added, but the site is already more functional and complete than the old one, so the school decided to launch it at their summer party today.
I will continue to support the school team with maintenance, development and working on the long list of ideas we still have for the site. These include updating some of the images in collaboration with the photography course and better integrating the school newspaper and other school projects.
