Once again, this seems to be how I/we spent the year 2024 in terms of computer games according to my Steam account. For a few more insights and game reviews/recommendations, check out my games page.

It seems that our annual Christmas party at the (former) chair for particle physics at LMU Munich is always a good reminder to check on the numbers of my virtual tours of the ATLAS Experiment. So I’ll just use this to remind you as well ;)

This week, I am for the third time taking part in the “International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis” to represent Munich Quantum Valley (MQV) and all of its activities at the booth of the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) (#3147).
Last Thursday, 3 October 2024, I took part in the Open Day at Garching.
With over 80 venues and activities to visit and take part in, and thousands of people attending, it was quite an event.
I myself took part in the stand activities of the Munich Quantum Valley (MQV), moderated talks and discussions at the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) and set up another ‘Build Your Own Particle Detector’ (BYOPD) competition as part of the activities of the ORIGINS Cluster of Excellence. Both the MQV stand and the BYOPD activity were well attended and we had quite a number of participants in the BYOPD competition … entries and results soon(ish) to come.
The official website for the Open Day, which I expanded and recoded over the past few weeks, also seems to have done a good job for the 6500 or so unique visitors on that day alone.
Last week I was at the 2024 IEEE Quantum Week in Montreal, Canada, to represent Munich Quantum Valley (MQV) with a special focus on its quantum-software activities and the Munich Quantum Software Stack (MQSS).
