Honour & Glory – UEFA Women’s Championship

The tournament itself is over and so is the Honour & Glory competition.

This time we had twelve participants and I cannot say I don’t like the final result ;)
Congratulations to Craig and Kristian (and the random numbers) for the places!
Along with loads of Honour & Glory, the prizes will be handed over soon!

Thanks everyone for taking part! See you for the next event (probably FIFA World Cup 2014)!

Honour & Glory – UEFA 2012

The group phase has finished: time for a little resumé!

It seems like my web site features a security hole and Troels has found it. Jokes aside, it’s hard not to notice his slight dominance in this year’s UEFA betting game. After his 17th and 6th place in UEFA 2008 and FIFA 2010, respectively: quite an improvement! I know that the one that laughs last, laughs loudest; but the rest of the field, including titleholder Simon, has to improve significantly to beat Troels’ lead. Well actually, there is already now some who do not have to think about a strategy to beat him anymore. Just after the group phase, this is actually a novelty for Honour & Glory football betting. Besides that, second and third place are still possible to reach for everyone in the field, though some might have to fight harder than others. Another novum is the fact that Troels continues to score on average more than one point per match (actually 1.46). And just to put out another name in this resumé, Basti managed to get the stage win for having the most correct betting tendencies in a row (seven) after the group phase.

ATLAS model

Today I finally finished the video construction manual for the ATLAS brick model. After more than a month and uncounted hours in hot spotlights I finally uploaded all episodes today. All Full HD video clips along with some more instructions, tips and hints for the build can be found at:

http://atlas-model.mehlhase.info.

In addition I also created a time-lapse movie (see below) showing both the construction of the second ATLAS brick model, here at NBI, and the construction of ATLAS, down in the cavern in Geneva.

Unknown

After quite some time, here’s another update on the movies side … and it is also my first payed rental movie from the iTunes Store. “Unknown” features quite a nice story in a very nice setting, being Berlin. It’s about a man who, after awakening from a coma, has to find out that someone has taken his identity … I wont write more, not to spoil a movie worth seeing.

Love the statement, hate the fact

“Erst wenn die letzte Eigentumswohnung gebaut, der letzte Klub abgerissen, der letzte Freiraum zerstört ist, werdet Ihr feststellen, dass der Prenzlauer Berg die Kleinstadt geworden ist, aus der ihr mal geflohen seid.”

Which translates into something like:

“Only when the last condominium built, the last club demolished, the last free space destroyed, you will find that Prenzlauer Berg has become the small town you once fled from.”

Is the beautiful, but sad statement that was made on a banner in the window of “Klub der Republik”, the latest addition in clubs closed down in Berlin. A sad tradition that has been going on for quite some time, in favour of peaceful living in expensive apartments in Prenzlauer Berg.

There is a full article about dying clubs in Berlin, specifically in Prenzlauer Berg, in a recent issue of Berliner Morgenpost (link). It’s in German though (for a change ;)
